tooth-implantsTooth implants are now the number one option for replacing failing or missing teeth. Tooth implants are used to replace either single or multiple teeth or in some cases, all the teeth. People who suffer from loose dentures can also look at tooth implants as a procedure to completely dispense with their dentures or false teeth.

Tooth implants – what are they?

Our dental team, that carry out tooth implants have all taken further training in this field which allows them to carry out these procedures. Our clinic is based in Glasgow city centre where you will find off street parking close by as well as being a short walk from both the major city centre railway stations re Central and Queen Street and Buchanan bus garage as well.

Tooth implants are small titanium posts that are secured into a patient’s jawbone. The existing bone gradually bonds with the titanium posts that have been inserted, this in turn provides a very secure foundation for artificial teeth. Before inserting these posts a 3D scan is taken to establish where in the jaw the titanium posts can be inserted, if no or very little bone exists, bone implants will be needed to enable us to secure the posts into the jawbone. Basically during the healing process, the jaw will bond with the posts giving a very powerful artificial tooth root helping create natural looking tooth or indeed teeth.

Tooth implants – are they suitable for me?

In our experience almost anyone with a missing tooth, teeth or are wearing dentures is potentially suitable for tooth implants, however they are not ideal younger people as their dental and facial bones are still in growth. Tooth implants really are the next best thing to natural looking teeth, helping retain the natural shape of a face and smile, they can last much longer, if properly looked after than say a bridge or crown. If you are low in confidence because of missing teeth or if you have dentures that move and prevent you from eating some foods, then tooth implants may be the answer.
