Denture implants are a type of over-denture an implant – supported denture. This is very different from a regular dentures, as these are not supported by implants as they rest on the gums. It is now very common to have implants and we have carried out many procedures, from our dental practices here in the U.K., we also offer services for private and NHS patients.
Denture Implants – what are they and who are the for?
Normally denture implants can be used when a patient doesn’t have any teeth but still has enough bone in the jaw strong enough to support an implant. Our treatment includes a supported denture which snap onto attachments on the denture implants. It is more common that these will be made for the lower jaw as regular dentures tend to be less stable here however we have carried out procedures for patients in both the lower and upper jaws. Some of our denture implants can be removed as regular as you like to clean in and around the gum area, just like a regular denture. We will always consider our patients individual needs when suggesting either fixed or removable options. There are a couple of denture implants on offer they are made of an acrylic base with acrylic teeth and need at least two implants for support, these are normally placed at the front of the mouth as this tends to be where there is more bone and less nerves. Even if teeth have been missing for some time Denture implants can still be achieved.
